Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW)

Rabbit Awareness Week

This year Rabbit Awareness Week is on 10th May - 18th May 2014

Rabbit Awareness Week (or RAW) is an event held each year - it is a week where rabbit rescues, vets, rabbit owners and bunny lovers help to raise awareness of rabbit welfare to give bunnies everywhere a better standard of living. Not only that but veterinary practices all over the UK hold FREE rabbit health checks so you can take your bun along and give your pet a free 'rabbit MOT!'

Even if you think your rabbit is perfectly fine, it’s worth doing as you will get all kinds of useful advice on rabbit care and welfare. In particular this year vets are encouraging owners to have their pet rabbits vaccinated against Myxomatosis and RHD (also known as VHD), which are two particularly nasty diseases that cause a lot of suffering to rabbits, and which can often be fatal.

To find out which veterinary practices near you are offering the FREE rabbit health checks please visit www.rabbitawarenessweek.co.uk

Fun days and fundraising events are also being held - check out the Event Locator to find them in your area.

If you know of any other rabbit owners who might want to know about the FREE rabbit health checks, please do pass this information on to them!
